Each of the main parts of your INFINITI G20 engine does something different, and they're all critical. The cylinder head, for example, helps prevent oil and gases leaking. Pistons, for another example, pressurize the engine's fuel and air. Intake valves regulate their levels, spark plugs combust the mix, and exhaust valves regulate fumes.

Valve covers, however, protect engine valves, and the camshaft helps coordinate the valves' activities. The crankshaft, though, turns engine power into rotary motion; it's the drive shaft and transmission that actually use that motion to turn your wheels and tires. The oil pan (alternatively, the oil sump) stores motor oil, which your engine uses for lubrication.

Many other engine parts ensure proper fitment. When they wear out, engine failure often follows. Luckily, there are signs of trouble you can look for, including a lit Check Engine light on the dashboard, increased exhaust emissions, a drop in fuel economy, and issues accelerating. Other symptoms include long engine warm-up times, rough idling, stall-outs, and being unable to start your sedan at all. Noticing any? Inspect your engine carefully to figure out their causes.
