Your INFINITI has an electromagnet attached to its starter motor. This is a starter solenoid. It connects the starter motor to your car battery. Sometimes, starter solenoids get called starter relays, though these are often separate relays that power a solenoid when your ignition switch engages it. What a starter solenoid does is help activate the starter motor so that your vehicle's ignition system, ignition coil included, can help crank the engine. It also engages a starter pinion with the engine's ring gear.

What are the Signs of a Failing or Bad Starter Solenoid?

Try turning your key. If you hear a single click or repeated clicking, your engine starts on its own, or your starter doesn't disengage when you release the key, you probably have starter solenoid problems. The same goes for if you can only start intermittently and if you can't start at all. Of course, these symptoms can also indicate other problems, like a dead battery, blown fuses, rusty or detached wiring, or alternator problems. To figure out what’s going on, run an inspection. Need a new starter solenoid? Buy genuine INFINITI. Your OEM makes them sure to fit your model. You can order one online from our auto parts counter today. Buy now!
