When the Infiniti I35 was introduced it soon became a top seller. Considered a mi-level model is was introduced in 1995 for the 1996 model year. All the models were built in Oppama, Japan. The engine on the I35 was a 3.0 model which produced 190 hp. Throughout the years Infiniti has made several revisions. A small percentage of first-generation I35's had five-speed manual transmissions. Infiniti looked to the A33 model as an update for the I30 in 1999 for the 2000 model year. With this update came a more powerful engine, different front and rear body styling, center dashboard design and standard driver's seat memory, to name a few of the changes. The years of the most significant upgrades were in 2001 for the 2002 model year. In September of 2004, Nissan announced that production of the I35 would cease and the model year of 2004 would be it's last. The I was replaced by the Infiniti M.
